A Bit About Lori Morgan - 3-29-23

Image
T he ministry team of "When God Whispers" would like to share a bit about us, so you can get to know us a bit better. So here is what you can read to put you to sleep..."Who is Lori Morgan". I was born and raised in Oklahoma, and moved to Texas when I was 18 just two weeks after Doug Morgan and I married in 1982. We met on New Year's Eve of 1981 when I was a senior in high school at Eastwood Baptist High School, in Tulsa, OK and Doug had just graduated from Oklahoma State University the spring before. Yes, He was a cradle robber. I was 17 when we met, so he was 5 years older than me, but it's amazing that now I am 58, but he is 32. At least that's what he tells people when they ask. It isn't from vanity, but because he can't remember, so he picked an age and just stuck with it. We began dating in January of 1982, became engaged in March, I turned 18 in April, graduated high school in May and we married in July, July, just six months an

Prayer 3/30/23

Heavenly Father, as I study Your word and read these verses today, I do find that I don't always think things are fair. I often wonder why people who do evil things seem to sometimes get ahead in life? I know Your ways are pure, good and always best, but the human side of me sometimes wishes I could be the judge, yet I know what a poor judge I would be. You alone are worthy to be our judge and I am so glad that You are a merciful judge. Father, help me, when things don't seem fair, to remember how much You have forgiven me. I am so grateful for that forgiveness, and the grace and mercy You give us. I know what we all deserve, and not one of us, not matter how "good" we are, can ever deserve to live in Your presence. Thank You Father for giving us a way to become Your child and receive Your unbelievable mercy and grace. There is nothing better than being a child of the Creator, Lord, and King. Please keep me close to You and Your love, comfort, and peace. &quo

Things Don't Always Seem Fair - 3/30/23

Image
Many times we see things in the Bible that don’t necessarily seem “fair”. Why do you think we worry so much about God being fair and less on God being just or on God being merciful? Expanded Verses: “For the kingdom of heaven is like a master of a house who went out early in the morning to hire laborers for his vineyard.  2  After agreeing with the laborers for a denarius a day, he sent them into his vineyard.  3  And going out about the third hour he saw others standing idle in the marketplace,  4  and to them he said, ‘You go into the vineyard too, and whatever is right I will give you.’  5  So they went. Going out again about the sixth hour and the ninth hour, he did the same.  6  And about the eleventh hour he went out and found others standing. And he said to them, ‘Why do you stand here idle all day?’  7  They said to him, ‘Because no one has hired us.’ He said to them, ‘You go into the vineyard too.’  8  And when evening came, the owner of the vineyard said to his foreman, ‘Ca

Prayer 3-29-23

Heavenly Father, You have blessed me so much in so many ways. I am rich in people that love me and encourage me. I am rich in the opportunities I have to work, and support my family. I am rich in the ability I have to seek medical attention when someone I love is sick. As we were able to seek the absolute best physicians in the world when Doug had cancer because we were within driving distance to MDA, I realized how rich I am in location for medical treatment. You are the Great Physician, but sometimes You choose to use man and the gifts You gave to treat and cure illness. I am rich in so many ways and I take it for granted so often, but one thing I ask...please help me never put those things before You. If anything becomes as important or more important than following You and sharing Your Good News, then I will have idols, and I don't want that Father. I know there have been times I have put things in a position of importance in my life that have kept me from honoring Yo

The Rich Man and the camel 3-29-23

Image
What do you think Jesus meant by “It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God”? Does having wealth make you less “lovable” to God? Expanded Verses: And behold, a man came up to him, saying, “Teacher, what good deed must I do to have eternal life?” 17 And he said to him, “Why do you ask me about what is good? There is only one who is good. If you would enter life, keep the commandments.” 18 He said to him, “Which ones?” And Jesus said, “You shall not murder, You shall not commit adultery, You shall not steal, You shall not bear false witness, 19 Honor your father and mother, and, You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” 20 The young man said to him, “All these I have kept. What do I still lack?” 21 Jesus said to him, “If you would be perfect, go, sell what you possess and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.” 22 When the young man heard this he went away sorrowful, for he had g

Prayer 3-28-23

Heavenly Father, as I read these verses today, I know this is something we all struggle with from time to time. I remember times when I didn't realize how important it was to remember that all we have belongs to You. Days when I thought it was my house, my car, and I thank you for helping me see that I only have these things as long as You allow me to use them. I am so thankful for the many things You allow me to use, for a time. Nothing in this world is permanent in any way. Even my family, friends and my own life, isn't permanent to this world. A hundred years from now the only thing that will matter is where I spend eternity and the lives I touch between now and then in Your name. I know these things Lord, help me live these things. Help me live in such a way that You are what people see and remember of me. Help my life not be remembered for anything other than You. Help me leave Your imprint on this world and not my own. I thank You Father for loving me, teaching

We cannot serve two masters 3-27-23

Image
What other masters do we as a society serve other than money? God is our Creator and loves us more than we can begin to understand. Why do you think we have so much trouble serving Him when that is the one thing He asks us over and over to do? Expanded verses: He also said to the disciples, “There was a rich man who had a manager, and charges were brought to him that this man was wasting his possessions.  2  And he called him and said to him, ‘What is this that I hear about you? Turn in the account of your management, for you can no longer be manager.’  3  And the manager said to himself, ‘What shall I do, since my master is taking the management away from me? I am not strong enough to dig, and I am ashamed to beg.  4  I have decided what to do, so that when I am removed from management, people may receive me into their houses.’  5  So, summoning his master's debtors one by one, he said to the first, ‘How much do you owe my master?’  6  He said, ‘A hundred measures of oil.’ He said

Prayer 3-26-23

Image
Heavenly Father, how many times have I gone my own way out of a desire to control my own destiny, when I know You only want the best for me. This story of the prodigal son reminds me of myself in so many ways. Always wanting to do what I want, rather than what I know You want. Why do I rebel against the one who loves me most, and has done everything possible to protect me from myself. How the enemy must delight when I make his work easy by turning my back on you. Please forgive me Father because I want what You want, I sometimes forget for a moment that I need to stop and look to You before I take a step that could impact everything You are trying to do for me. Help me remember that I truly want to have the desires of my heart be what You desire for me. Thank You Father for helping me see truth when I step out the wrong direction. I know You discipline me because You love me. I believe, help me with my unbelief. In Jesus' name. Amen!

The Prodigal Son 3-26-23

There are so many ways this parable can be viewed. One way is the father coming out of the house trying to convince the older son to come join the festivities is like our heavenly Father pursuing us and wanting us to trust in His Son so we can spend eternity with Him. What other lessons do you see that might not be as obvious in this parable? Expanded Verses: 11  And he said, “There was a man who had two sons.  12  And the younger of them said to his father, ‘Father, give me the share of property that is coming to me.’ And he divided his property between them.  13  Not many days later, the younger son gathered all he had and took a journey into a far country, and there he squandered his property in reckless living.  14  And when he had spent everything, a severe famine arose in that country, and he began to be in need.  15  So he went and hired himself out to one of the citizens of that country, who sent him into his fields to feed pigs.  16  And he was longing to be fed with the pods
