June 4, 2026, Isaiah 40:6-8
6 A voice says, “Cry!”
And I said, “What
shall I cry?”
All flesh is grass,
and all its beauty is
like the flower of the field.
7 The grass withers, the flower fades
when the breath of
the Lord blows on it;
surely the people are
grass.
8 The grass withers, the flower fades,
but the word of our God
will stand forever.
Isaiah 40:6–8 contrasts the extreme fragility and
temporary nature of human life with the absolute permanence and reliability of
God’s Word, reminding us to anchor our security in eternal truths rather than
fleeting earthly realities.
If human life and
achievements are as temporary as grass, are you spending more time building an
earthly empire that will fade, or investing in the eternal kingdom of God?
When societal,
political, or economic landscapes shift and wither around you, do you panic, or
do you find immediate peace in the fact that God’s Word remains completely
unchanged?
