The
Bride Gives Her Love
11 Come, my beloved,
let us go out into the
fields
and lodge in the villages;[d]
12 let us go out early to the vineyards
and see whether the vines
have budded,
whether the grape blossoms have opened
and the pomegranates are
in bloom.
There I will give you my love.
13 The mandrakes give forth fragrance,
and beside our doors are
all choice fruits,
new as well as old,
which I have laid up for
you, O my beloved.
Song of Solomon 7:11-13 depicts
a romantic invitation from the Shulammite bride to her beloved, seeking a
private getaway in the countryside to renew their intimacy. She expresses eager
love, inviting him to enjoy the flourishing vineyards, symbolizing their
blossoming, passionate relationship, and offering her full devotion.
Historically, many
theologians have interpreted the lovers as a "living parable" of the
relationship between God and His people. God holds back nothing with His
relationship for us.
Are you holding back on
your devotion, witness or total surrender for an intentional relationship with
God?
How can you give your
total devotion and worship to God, free from the distractions of the
world?
