August 15, 2025, Psalm 15:1-5
15 O Lord, who shall sojourn in
your tent?
Who
shall dwell on your holy hill?
2 He
who walks blamelessly and does what is right
and speaks
truth in his heart;
3 who does not slander with his tongue
and does
no evil to his neighbor,
nor takes
up a reproach against his friend;
4 in whose eyes a vile person is despised,
but who
honors those who fear the Lord;
who swears to his own hurt and does not change;
5 who does not put out his money at interest
and does
not take a bribe against the innocent.
He who does these things shall never be moved.
Anytime I read verses that
talk about the blameless and righteous I have to be honest…I have to stop and
remember that I, in my own right am nothing good. Anything good in me is Jesus that lives in me
and through me. If not for the blood of
Jesus, I would never have a chance to commune with God.
Although I know my dad
felt the same way, he is one that comes to mind when I think of someone
righteous. I remember as a teenager
seeing him early in the morning kneeling at his chair in prayer. A more righteous man I have never met other
than Jesus.
Who do you think of when
you think of a righteous man?
What is it about them that
makes you think that?
Is it what they do, or
their love for Jesus that makes them righteous?
When I think about the
example of my own father I can’t help but think about the fact that others are
watching me. I know I have disappointed
many in things I have done in my life, but I hope anyone who looks at me now will
see Jesus. Jesus’ blood that covers me
and allows me to have a relationship with the Father.
