August 14, 2025, Psalm 14:1-7
14 The fool
says in his heart, “There is no God.”
They
are corrupt, they do abominable deeds;
there is
none who does good.
2 The Lord looks down from heaven on the
children of man,
to see
if there are any who understand,
who seek
after God.
3 They
have all turned aside; together they have become corrupt;
there is
none who does good,
not even
one.
4 Have
they no knowledge, all the evildoers
who eat
up my people as they eat bread
and do
not call upon the Lord?
5 There
they are in great terror,
for God
is with the generation of the righteous.
6 You would shame the plans of the poor,
but the Lord is his refuge.
7 Oh, that
salvation for Israel would come out of Zion!
When
the Lord restores the
fortunes of his people,
let
Jacob rejoice, let Israel be glad.
When I
read verses like these and think about how corrupt our world is, my mind goes to
the verses in Revelation that talk about the time to come when every knee will
bow and every tongue will confess that He is Lord!
God is
so patient with this world. Sometimes I think
about the things going on in the world and wonder how He puts up with “those”
people. Then I remember my own sin and
wonder how God puts up with me.
He doesn’t
want anyone to follow the enemy, because as we know, those who follow Jesus
will live with Him forever in paradise, but those who follow the enemy, will
live forever in hell. It truly hurts my
heart to think about the “good” people I know that depend on their own goodness
to get them to God. I am so grateful
that my own parents taught me I can’t depend on me. I can only depend on Jesus.
Who do
you know that is a good person, but needs to know Jesus?
I have
to admit, those are the most difficult to reach because they don’t see
themselves as sinners, yet we are all sinners.
We all need Jesus.
Email me
and I will pray with you for these people that need Jesus. I will also pray that God gives you an
opportunity and the right words to share Jesus with them. Don’t be shy!
God will give you the words.
