July 12, 2025, Job 25:1-6

Bildad Speaks: Man Cannot Be Righteous

25 Then Bildad the Shuhite answered and said:

² “Dominion and fear are with God;
    he makes peace in his high heaven.
³ Is there any number to his armies?
    Upon whom does his light not arise?
⁴ How then can man be in the right before God?
    How can he who is born of woman be pure?
⁵ Behold, even the moon is not bright,
    and the stars are not pure in his eyes;
⁶ how much less man, who is a maggot,
    and the son of man, who is a worm!”

Bildad is sure seeing the worst of mankind as he shares his thoughts in these verses.  I have to give him some grace, though because He didn’t know what Jesus, the Messiah would bring to this world.  Once Jesus died for all these things Bildad is talking about, we can realize that man can’t be right before God unless they’ve surrendered to Jesus.  We certainly aren’t born pure.  We know that we are all born with evil tendencies and without God intervening with Jesus dying for us and rising again to make Himself the final sacrifice, things would be completely different for us. 

I do feel sorry for those who don’t have the Holy Spirit with them all the time.  In the Old Testament, the Spirit would come upon some, for a time.  So thankful Jesus sent The Holy Spirit to be our constant companion to guide us, nudge us, and encourage us.
