March 13, 2025, 2 Kings 15:23-24

23 In the fiftieth year of Azariah king of Judah, Pekahiah the son of Menahem began to reign over Israel in Samaria, and he reigned two years. 24 And he did what was evil in the sight of the Lord. He did not turn away from the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, which he made Israel to sin. 25 And Pekah the son of Remaliah, his captain, conspired against him with fifty men of the people of Gilead, and struck him down in Samaria, in the citadel of the king's house with Argob and Arieh; he put him to death and reigned in his place. 26 Now the rest of the deeds of Pekahiah and all that he did, behold, they are written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel.

The saddest part of these verses is that he followed in the footsteps of those who came before him and it cost him his life.

Who is following in your footsteps?  Who is watching what you do and thinking that is the way they should follow?

It could be your children or grandchildren.  It could be younger siblings, cousins, or friends.

Who, by how you go about your day, are you influencing?

When you go before God someday soon, don’t you want to know you influenced those around you to choose God, rather than reject God?

Sometimes we don’t even realize who is watching us.  It could be co-workers or neighbors that we don’t realize are even watching us.  We must represent our Jesus in every step we take.

What changes might you need to make to be sure you aren’t influencing people in the wrong way?  Pray today for God to reveal to you who you might need to talk to about Jesus and why to choose Him and how to choose Him?

I pray God guides you today to reach out to those around you FOR Him.
