September 7 – 2 Samuel 8:9-12
[9]
When Toi king of Hamath heard that David had defeated the whole army of
Hadadezer, [10] Toi sent his son Joram to King David, to ask about his health
and to bless him because he had fought against Hadadezer and defeated him, for
Hadadezer had often been at war with Toi. And Joram brought with him articles
of silver, of gold, and of bronze. [11] These also King David dedicated to the
LORD, together with the silver and gold that he dedicated from all the nations he
subdued, [12] from Edom, Moab, the Ammonites, the Philistines, Amalek, and from
the spoil of Hadadezer the son of Rehob, king of Zobah.
These
verses remind us of David’s faithfulness to dedicate articles brought to him of
silver, gold and bronze plus spoils of defeated countries and dedicate them to
the Lord. What do you find yourself
dedicating to the Lord? Perhaps it’s
your prayer life, your commitment to study God’s Word, your time/service, your
tithe and offering or your talents.
Regardless of your income or material status, we all have something to
dedicate to the Lord. Will you commit
today to dedicate yourself to the Lord?
What will that look like for you?
What will you need to ‘put down’ or ‘pick up’ in response to dedicating
your life and lifestyle to Christ?
