February 20 – Judges 6:36-40
36 Then Gideon said to God, “If you will save Israel by my
hand, as you have said, 37 behold, I am laying a fleece of wool on
the threshing floor. If there is dew on the fleece alone, and it is dry on all
the ground, then I shall know that you will save Israel by my hand, as you have
said.” 38 And it was so. When he rose early next morning and squeezed
the fleece, he wrung enough dew from the fleece to fill a bowl with water.
39 Then Gideon said to God, “Let not your anger burn against me; let
me speak just once more. Please let me test just once more with the fleece.
Please let it be dry on
the fleece only, and on all the ground let there be dew.”
40 And God did so that night; and it was dry on the fleece only, and on
all the ground there was dew.
Oh ye of little faith. It’s
easy to judge Gideon and wonder how he could doubt God. Yet, we experience God’s mercy and grace
every day and sometimes remain fearful.
Is there something that you are fearful of, dreading, can’t wrap
your head around, or simply don’t understand?
Is it interfering with you faith?
Take comfort in the fact that God did not forsake Gideon even when he
asked for more proof that God would be with him in the battle. God is with you during your daily battles and
will not forsake you. Ask him to
restore, renew and strengthen you as you face your battle(s).
Heavenly Father, I have been like Gideon where I wanted to be sure
I heard what I thought I heard. I know
the more time I spend with You, the more I recognize Your voice and understand
what I am to do. I know the more time I
spend in Your Word, the more I see the daily things You have for me to do. Help me, Father. Give me wisdom to carry out the day to day
activities that show the world You instead of me. Help me to be a light in the darkness amidst
storms as well as normal days. Help
people see there is something different about me.
In Jesus’ name.
Amen!
