March 29 – Judges 16:23-27
March 29 – Judges 16:23-27
23 Now the
lords of the Philistines gathered to offer a great sacrifice to Dagon
their god and to rejoice, and they said, “Our god has given Samson our enemy
into our hand.” 24 And when the people saw
him, they praised their god. For they said, “Our god has given our enemy
into our hand, the ravager of our country, who has killed many of us.” 25 And when
their hearts were merry, they said, “Call Samson, that he may entertain us.” So
they called Samson out of the prison, and he entertained them. They made him
stand between the pillars. 26 And Samson said to
the young man who held him by the hand, “Let me feel the pillars on which the
house rests, that I may lean against them.” 27 Now
the house was full of men and women. All the lords of the Philistines were
there, and on the roof there were about 3,000 men and women, who looked on
while Samson entertained.
These verses are so
reminiscent of how the Jewish leaders felt after the crucifixion. They thought they had won, but were soon to
find out how wrong they were.
How often does the situation
look totally different than it truly is?
God knows what is ahead
for you and is the only one you can truly trust for guidance.
Why do you think we find
it so difficult to truly trust in Him when we know He is trustworthy and knows
all?
Heavenly Father, You were
there on that Friday so many years ago and knew what was about to take place. It was all part of Your plan to allow us a
chance for a relationship with You.
Today You are right here and asking for us to listen to You to guide us
in the right path. Thank You for caring
so much for each of us that You still pursue us with such passion. Thank You for showing Your love that horrible
Friday that is now known of as “Good Friday”.
Thank You for not giving up on me.
In Jesus’ name.
Amen!
