February 6 – Judges 3:7-11
7 And the
people of Israel did what was evil in the sight of the Lord. They forgot the Lord their God and served the Baals
and the Asheroth. 8 Therefore the anger of
the Lord was kindled
against Israel, and he sold them into the hand of Cushan-rishathaim
king of Mesopotamia. And the people of Israel served Cushan-rishathaim eight
years. 9 But when the people of Israel cried
out to the Lord, the Lord raised up a deliverer for
the people of Israel, who saved them, Othniel the son of Kenaz, Caleb's
younger brother. 10 The Spirit of the Lord was upon him, and he judged
Israel. He went out to war, and the Lord gave
Cushan-rishathaim king of Mesopotamia into his hand. And his hand prevailed
over Cushan-rishathaim. 11 So the land had rest
forty years. Then Othniel the son of Kenaz died.
Forty years of rest! That
must have been such a sweet time. It amazes me that once again God rescued His
people. I then realize that I can go back to God, time after time, when I have
sinned and ask His forgiveness. He never withholds. He loves me and wants to be
my personal savior. Why am I so stubborn? Why do I continue to sin? Where are
you? Have you asked forgiveness and turned from your sin? Talk to God today and
find a sweet time of rest in the Lord.
Oh Heavenly Father, how
You give us so much more than we deserve.
Even those who followed You faithfully all their lives, deserve death. You are such a merciful God to give us Jesus
and a way to come into Your presence and live with You for all eternity. Grace is wonderful – to give us what we don’t
deserve, but mercy is why Your Son died.
He made a way for Your mercy…not giving us wht we do deserve. I know I don’t deserve Your love Father, but
I am oh so grateful that You made a way for me to have it through Jesus and His
blood. Your plan was so perfect and how
many through the ages turned their back on it?
How many today turn their back on You and Your plan? It seems more and more evry day stand up to
celebrate evil, hate, selfishness…all the things the enemy stands for.
I pray that You will
prompt Your children to stand up in the same way, but for You, for truth, for
love, for eternal life. Help me stap out
and tell about You and what You have done for me every chance I get. I believe, Father, help me with my unbelief.
In Jesus’ precious name.
Amen!
