November 20– Exodus 34:25-28

November 20– Exodus 34:25-28

25 “You shall not offer the blood of my sacrifice with anything leavened, or let the sacrifice of the Feast of the Passover remain until the morning. 26 The best of the firstfruits of your ground you shall bring to the house of the Lord your God. You shall not boil a young goat in its mother's milk.”

27 And the Lord said to Moses, “Write these words, for in accordance with these words I have made a covenant with you and with Israel.” 28 So he was there with the Lord forty days and forty nights. He neither ate bread nor drank water. And he wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant, the Ten Commandments.

God wants our best. His laws and commands to us are to help us be our best.  How often do we think of God’s words as restrictive or punishment rather than protection and direction?

Ask the Lord today where you fall short in the offering of your very best. I am afraid my offerings are often not my very best.

Heavenly Father, help me to see Your words as the guidance You give me to help me be my best and to protect me from doing things that could harm me, my family, my life and my witness for You.  Help me see You and Your love as You intend.  I am such a teenager sometimes in thinking that I “deserve” to make my own decisions and I know what I need and what I should do.  I know my parents had to be frustrated with that attitude when I was growing up.  How You must get so frustrated when You see us act in destructive ways and ignore Your instruction for us.  All You want to do is give us Your best and enable us to live our best lives for You.  Thank You for your unending grace and mercy.

In Jesus’ name.

Amen!
