Exodus 20:22-26
22 And the LORD said to Moses, “Thus you shall say to the people of Israel: ‘You have seen for yourselves that I have talked with you from heaven.
23 You shall not make gods of silver to be with me, nor shall you make for yourselves gods of gold.
24 An altar of earth you shall make for me and sacrifice on it your burnt offerings and your peace offerings, your sheep and your oxen. In every place where I cause my name to be remembered I will come to you and bless you.
25 If you make me an altar of stone, you shall not build it of hewn stones, for if you wield your tool on it you profane it.
26 And you shall not go up by steps to my altar, that your nakedness be not exposed on it.’


Here we see God expressing ideas of idols and graven images. He shares how to honor and love Him. He says,” I have talked to you from Heaven.” God spoke to the Israelites and through the Israelites He continues to speak to us. Something to think about: The God of the Universe still speaks to us today. Praise Him!
We may not have graven images in your home. Yet, think about how you spend your time and money. Are there things you may worship that aren’t to be worshipped?
In verse 26 we see that we cannot keep secrets from God. We will be exposed when we try to hide our sin from Him.
How can you begin to move beyond wanting earthly “things”?
What steps can you begin taking to fall in love with Jesus more each day?
Although God knows you intimately, He yearns to have a more personal relationship with you. Reflect and pray about what might be standing in your way.


Heavenly Father, I am humbled in the thought that You know everything about me, every thought, every sin, every temptation I give in to, everything in my past, yet You still love me beyond my ability to understand love. I know I don’t deserve Your love, yet You give it freely. Help me be more bold in sharing Your love. Help me know how to share in ways people will listen. You are so amazing and worthy of my love and praise, but I know I don’t give either in the way I should. My humanity stands in the way at times and other times I use it as an excuse, but I truly want to love You above all things. Help me grow in the ways I need to grow and give up what I need to give up to become what You want me to be. Thank You Father for loving me so very much.
In Jesus’ name.

So often we are willing to help others, but not if it puts us out or causes us work. Help me love unconditionally and act on that love. Joseph spent most of his life with Egyptians, but certainly not in comfort until the last years regarding the famine, but yet he grew to love them to a degree he worked to make their lives better. I pray Father that You help me to love like that. Help me remember to act on the love for others and be Jesus to those around me. In Jesus’ name. Amen! I find this so interesting. Joseph, not an Egyptian, sold into slavery, and imprisoned in Egypt for years because of an Egyptian who lied about him.
