Exodus 13:11-16

“When the Lord brings you into the land of the Canaanites, as he swore to you and your fathers, and shall give it to you, you shall set apart to the Lord all that first opens the womb. All the firstborn of your animals that are males shall be the Lord’s. Every firstborn of a donkey you shall redeem with a lamb, or if you will not redeem it you shall break its neck. Every firstborn of man among your sons you shall redeem. And when in time to come your son asks you, ‘What does this mean?’ you shall say to him, ‘By a strong hand the Lord brought us out of Egypt, from the house of slavery. For when Pharaoh stubbornly refused to let us go, the Lord killed all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both the firstborn of man and the firstborn of animals. Therefore I sacrifice to the Lord all the males that first open the womb, but all the firstborn of my sons I redeem.’  It shall be as a mark on your hand or frontlets between your eyes, for by a strong hand the Lord brought us out of Egypt.”

 

These verses share sacrifice, redemption, praise for God’s faithfulness, and an urgency to share the testimony of God’s fulfilled promise to free the Israelites with their children. 

 I recently read a quote saying, “tell your children about Jesus, so Satan doesn’t share his lies about the world.”  Are you sharing the urgency of Christ’s sacrifice so we might have eternal life with your children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, community, etc.?  Think about ways to share Christ with others.  What has Christ done for you?  How are you able to face life’s burdens, heartbreaks or even joys because you have Christ in your life? 

 How can you become a Christian?  There is urgency… there will come a day when there are no more chances to make that decision. 

For those who know Jesus, we need to share Christ, shine Christ’s light and fall in love with Him more each day.

Heavenly Father, the reason I am here is to make a difference in Your name and for Your glory.  I’m not here to teach, or talk, or visit, or attend church, or do my job, be a mom, a wife, but to glorify You.  Yes, I can do that daily through being a wife and mother.  I glorify and share You by teaching, witnessing to others, doing a good job at work, and loving others around me.  But my call, my purpose, is to glorify You!  What You do with that, is up to You.  Can others come to know You because I shared Your glory?  They can come to know You after they have heard about You, but they can come to know You because You prompted their heart.  You don’t need me to show the way to You, but I get the joy of seeing someone come to believe in You, and it lifts my spirit and helps me push on in my efforts to share You.  Help me remember that You don’t need me, You give me opportunities to share, but those are so I can participate in growing Your kingdom, not because You need me to grow Your kingdom.  Thank You for the opportunities to share about You.  Help me to be clear when sharing Your truth.  Help me share the joy You give me and the love with which You fill me, so that others can truly see Your love clearly and desire to know You personally.
