10
When Pharaoh drew near, the people of Israel lifted up their eyes, and behold,
the Egyptians were marching after them, and they feared greatly. And the people
of Israel cried out to the LORD.
11
They said to Moses, “Is it because there are no graves in Egypt that you
have taken us away to die in the wilderness? What have you done to us in
bringing us out of Egypt?
12 Is
not this what we said to you in Egypt: ‘Leave us alone that we may serve
the Egyptians’? For it would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians
than to die in the wilderness.”
13 And
Moses said to the people, “Fear not,
stand firm,
and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will work for you today.
For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall never see again.
14
The LORD will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.”
Reread
the following:
13 And
Moses said to the people, “Fear not,
stand firm,
and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will work for you today.
For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall never see again.
14
The LORD will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.”
Pharaoh
was not the only one with a short memory.
The Israelites began to mumble and complain out of fear. They lacked faith and were short sighted
about God’s promises.
How often
do we forget God’s promises of protection, salvation and stand boldly in confidence
that God has us covered and protected?
What is
in your life that keeps you frozen, fearful or worried?
Do you
call out to God and rebuke Satan when doubt swirls in your mind?
I urge
you to surrender your fears and worries for a life in the “Light” filled with
peace and comfort.
Heavenly
Father, how often I stand paralyzed with fear at something new in my life
because I have no idea how to respond, or I feel there is no proper way to
respond. Why do I let things get to me
to the point I can’t even seem to reach out to You properly? I know if I would just humble myself to You
and let You be the guide of that situation, it would all work out for the
best. How often do I make things worse
by trying to make it better? I so
understand at times how the Children of Israel felt. Even though I know You can do anything and I
remember how often You have performed miracles before my eyes, I still sometimes
see a new situation as a disaster rather than another chance to see You at
work. It is easy for me to say I wouldn’t
have responded like they did. I would
have had more faith after seeing all the plagues and how You convinced Pharaoh
to release them, but I know the truth. I
am no better than the children of Israel.
My faith would have waned. I have
see Your miracles up close and personal, but when something new comes at me, I
still doubt that this situation could end well.
Father, help me be more faithful.
Help me believe. Help me trust
You completely.
In
Jesus’ name. Amen!
