Exodus
12: 29-32
At
midnight the LORD struck down all the firstborn in the land of
Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh who sat on his throne to the
firstborn of the captive who was in the dungeon, and all the firstborn of the
livestock. And Pharaoh rose up in the night, he and all his
servants and all the Egyptians. And there was a great cry in Egypt, for
there was not a house where someone was not dead. Then he summoned
Moses and Aaron by night and said, “Up, go out from among my people, both
you and the people of Israel; and go, serve the LORD, as you have
said. Take your flocks and your herds, as you have said, and be
gone, and bless me also!”
I
can not fathom the horror of this event that took place at midnight in these
scriptures at God’s hand. As we reflect
on these verses, we can take joy and comfort in the fact that God’s promises
are true and unfailing. Yet what a price
Pharaoh and the Egyptians paid for Pharaoh’s selfishness, pride and brutality
over the people of Israel.
Heavenly
Father, thank You for always keeping Your word.
You are the One that I can always count on to tell me what I need to
hear, tell me the truth, and honor Your word.
I fail You Father. Daily, I fail
You. I struggle at times to be humble,
kind and selfless. I struggle to reflect
You in my life. I can say, well, I’m human,
and it’s true that You don’t hold me to a standard I’m not capable of, but I
want to reflect You in all I do, and I fail.
I have days where I struggle to be civil to anyone. When I am struggling with life events and of
course that is when Satan likes to attack, I struggle. I can’t wait for You to come back and get
Your children. I am looking up and
ready. This world is not my home, and I
am ready to be in a place where love prevails.
Please Lord, come quickly.
In
Jesus’ name.
Amen!
