May 7 Prayer - Thoughts - Verses

Oh Heavenly Father, I read about the promises You made to Abram and I think about how You kept those promises. Even if it took many years for some of them to be accomplished, You always keep Your promises. You are truly the only One we can always count on to keep promises. Many people make promises with no intention of keeping them, and then there are those that truly intend to reliable and honorable, but for whatever reason are unable to follow through. I love that no matter what happens, nothing will ever stand in the way of You keeping a promise. I praise Your name for being stronger, mightier, more reliable, and more loving, than anything we could experience on this earth.

I am so sorry, Father, when my focus gets away from You and onto things that truly don't matter. Some of the things we fight for and want might seem to matter for a time, like winning a game, or getting a raise at work, but they truly have no impact on what truly matters in our lives. Even a cure for diseases don't have the impact on the world that one touch from You can have. How can I reach those who need to hear? How can I get the word out and share You with as many people as possible? I so want to impact the world by people coming to know You, love You and rely on You for everything. My very breath is only possible because You made it happen.
I know that there are many people I talk to that don't want to hear, and think I'm a radical "Jesus Lover" and I don't understand how life really works, but I also know You promise that Your Word will never go out void. Your Word always makes a difference. I know Your Word spreads to those around me and the people in their lives, at work or at home. I know Your plan will be accomplished with or without me, and I am so fortunate that You invite me to be a part of sharing Your story.
You are such a mighty God and have taken such wonderful care of my children, my grandchildren, my husband and the one who is most difficult to keep out of trouble...me. There are days, Father, when I am truly overwhelmed at the thought of what You truly do for me. I know there are many things that You do that I don't even notice, much less take the time to thank You. Forgive me for being so distracted when I forget to tell You thank You. Thank You for the many blessings You have allowed me to witness and see up close. Thank You for being my God. Thank You for the salvation of Your precious Son. Thank You for loving me when I am so very unlovable.
In Jesus wonderful and powerful name!
Amen.

God sends Abram out to show him the land he and his descendants are promised. He traveled to Mount Moriah and although Abram doesn’t know what is to come, we realize that Mount Moriah will be used to seal His relationship with Abram. Mount Moriah is still considered very important to most world religions to this day.
God promised land, descendants, and blessings to Abram. These promises were kept, but it wasn’t immediate. There were many years before God would give him the promised descendant. There were many generations before the land that was promised would be theirs. What promise are you waiting for God to bring to reality?
If it is something God has truly promised, we know He will deliver at the exact right time. Why do you think we are so impatient when it comes to waiting on God?
Abram didn’t see all the promises fulfilled, but he knew they would be. What can we do to keep from getting discouraged in the time we spend waiting?

May 7 – Genesis 12:1-9
12 Now the Lord said to Abram, “Go from your country and your kindred and your father's house to the land that I will show you. And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”
So Abram went, as the Lord had told him, and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he departed from Haran. And Abram took Sarai his wife, and Lot his brother's son, and all their possessions that they had gathered, and the people that they had acquired in Haran, and they set out to go to the land of Canaan. When they came to the land of Canaan, Abram passed through the land to the place at Shechem, to the oak of Moreh. At that time the Canaanites were in the land. Then the Lord appeared to Abram and said, “To your offspring I will give this land.” So he built there an altar to the Lord, who had appeared to him. From there he moved to the hill country on the east of Bethel and pitched his tent, with Bethel on the west and Ai on the east. And there he built an altar to the Lord and called upon the name of the Lord. And Abram journeyed on, still going toward the Negeb.
