May 5 - Prayer - Thoughts - Verses

Heavenly Father, reading these verses makes me sit back and wonder why You put up with all we put You through. Humans have been disobedient, unruly, murderers, selfish, and in these verses we see the pride humans had by thinking they could make something that could reach You. How patient You are to put up with all we dish out. Why do we think we could even begin to deserve to be able to reach heaven, especially on our time schedule. The longer I live, the more see that pride is the beginning of sin. We think so highly of ourselves that we start to believe we deserve something we don't have, don't want to work for, and can't pay for.

Pride comes before a fall. Those words from Proverbs 16:18 are ones most of us know, but how often do we look at them as the warning that You intended them to be. When I think about different sin I see pride at the core. Theft, cheating, lying, coveting, even King David desiring to have Bathsheba and killing her husband all comes from wanting something we don't have and many times people steal or cheat because that's the only way to get those things. I'm so grateful for the forgiveness You give, God. These sins and just pride alone, so destroys us from the inside out that we need emotional healing as well as the forgiveness only You can offer.
I can't imagine how difficult it would be to get through forgiving myself without feeling Your love and forgiveness.
Thank You so much for your continuing grace and mercy. Thank You for loving us so much I am so unlovable I don't know why You love me, but I am so glad You do.
The comfort and peace I have just because I know You love me, helps me forgive myself and get through the difficult days when I want to go back to the place of feeling I don't deserve forgiveness. Satan is so good at convincing me at times that I don't deserve anything good. With everything good coming from You, that gets twisted in my mind that I don't deserve You and Your love. But then I realize, I don't. I'm just so lucky that You give me grace which is giving me love, forgiveness, comfort, peace...all those things that I don't deserve. And then the greatest miracle of all, in my mind, You give me Mercy, which is NOT giving me the punishment that I do deserve.
Thank You Father for the wonderful love You alone are capable of giving.
In Jesus name.
Amen!

We have already in just 10 chapters seen selfishness cause man to be kicked out of the Garden of Eden, commit the first murder, bring God to a place where He only saw one family worth saving from a world-wide flood, and now we see it will cause God to separate people in a new way.
There are many things that cause people to feel alone and separated. What can we do as children of God to help people feel loved and included?

May 5 – Genesis 11:1-9
11 Now the whole earth had one language and the same words. 2 And as people migrated from the east, they found a plain in the land of Shinar and settled there. 3 And they said to one another, “Come, let us make bricks, and burn them thoroughly.” And they had brick for stone, and bitumen for mortar. 4 Then they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city and a tower with its top in the heavens, and let us make a name for ourselves, lest we be dispersed over the face of the whole earth.” 5 And the Lord came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of man had built. 6 And the Lord said, “Behold, they are one people, and they have all one language, and this is only the beginning of what they will do. And nothing that they propose to do will now be impossible for them. 7 Come, let us go down and there confuse their language, so that they may not understand one another's speech.” 8 So the Lord dispersed them from there over the face of all the earth, and they left off building the city. 9 Therefore its name was called Babel, because there the Lord confused the language of all the earth. And from there the Lord dispersed them over the face of all the earth.
