Heavenly Father, there are so many times You have done what we think is impossible. Even the thought of the birth of a baby, is a miracle to me. How perfect they are. How You grow them and form them. Such a miracle.
I can't help but think of so many times in my own life You have shown off in such a way that no one could say You weren't involved. Doug's healing from cancer. The doctor had never seen cancer that large without it going beyond the bladder. But You have a plan for Doug. When Doug was laid off from his job and in just a few weeks You had established him in a better job, working from home. Then when he was diagnosed with cancer, how wonderful they were to understand his limitations, but his desire to move beyond the cancer to a life after cancer.
I love how You are always there and and always ready to bring us a miracle, but how many times do I not have enough faith to see what You are doing? Help me know You will always come through and carry me through if that is what is needed. No matter how difficult the situation, or how much help I need to get through, You are always there. You didn't promise I'd have no problems, but You promised to always be there. Help me to reach out to You first when I need help, not last as I sometimes do. You are the only one who can really fix the situation and completely understands, so why I don't come to You first, is a mystery, but with Your help, I can do better to rely solely on You.
I love You Father, and my desire to know You better, love You better, and show my love for You more is very real, but I don't always move forward as I should. Help me to step out in obedience in the small things as well as the big things. Help me to show my love for You every single day.
In Jesus' name.
Amen!
Here we see that Sarah also struggles with a lack of faith. She laughs and then lies about her behavior. God is all-knowing and all-seeing.
We as humans cannot even begin to conceive of situations that are humanly impossible.
Can you name situations in your life where a miracle has been accomplished?
Stop now and praise God for his faithfulness to you.
Genesis 18:1-15
And the Lord appeared to him by the oaks of Mamre, as he sat at the door of his tent in the heat of the day. He lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, three men were standing in front of him. When he saw them, he ran from the tent door to meet them and bowed himself to the earth and said, “O Lord, if I have found favor in your sight, do not pass by your servant. Let a little water be brought, and wash your feet, and rest yourselves under the tree, while I bring a morsel of bread, that you may refresh yourselves, and after that you may pass on—since you have come to your servant.” So they said, “Do as you have said.” And Abraham went quickly into the tent to Sarah and said, “Quick! Three seahs of fine flour! Knead it, and make cakes.” And Abraham ran to the herd and took a calf, tender and good, and gave it to a young man, who prepared it quickly. Then he took curds and milk and the calf that he had prepared, and set it before them. And he stood by them under the tree while they ate.
They said to him, “Where is Sarah your wife?” And he said, “She is in the tent.” 10 The Lord said, “I will surely return to you about this time next year, and Sarah your wife shall have a son.” And Sarah was listening at the tent door behind him. 11 Now Abraham and Sarah were old, advanced in years. The way of women had ceased to be with Sarah. 12 So Sarah laughed to herself, saying, “After I am worn out, and my lord is old, shall I have pleasure?” 13 The Lord said to Abraham, “Why did Sarah laugh and say, ‘Shall I indeed bear a child, now that I am old?’ 14 Is anything too hard for the Lord? At the appointed time I will return to you, about this time next year, and Sarah shall have a son.” 15 But Sarah denied it, saying, “I did not laugh,” for she was afraid. He said, “No, but you did laugh.”
