Prayer 4-14-23

Heavenly Father, as I look over these few verses about when You finished the work on the creation, and you took time to rest, I can’t help but think you were anticipating our need to sit back and rest from work.  I know You as the Creator of all, don’t need to rest, but You are always showing us what we need to do by Your example.  You show us how to love, how to forgive, how to keep promises, how to encourage, how to believe, and here we see You are showing us how to rest.

I wonder if when You rest, is it time to look over the work You have done and appreciate it’s beauty of perfection before we as imperfect people can step in to take away some of the beauty by bringing our imperfection to it?  I know You always intended for us to have free will and not be robots that You control, but when I look around at the world today, I wonder sometimes how our free will got out of control to the degree it has.  I’m sure it has to be disconcerting, or at least it is to us, but You always know what we will do before we do it.  Yet You still made us.  If that isn’t love, I don’t know what is.  I’m sure Your love for us is the only thing that keeps You from throwing in the towel.

I wonder how often You look at me and think, I don’t really like her right now, so it’s a good thing I love her so much.  Probably more than I would want to admit.  Thank You for not giving up on me.  Thank You for giving me a new start each day.  Help me to share Your love, grace, and mercy with everyone I encounter today.  Help me to see people as You do.  With the love You have as their Creator, Father, and Savior.  Help me remember that no matter how frustrated or disillusioned I become today over things people say or do, that Jesus died for them too.  I am no better than they.  Help me to love and comfort them.  Help me be Jesus to them today

In Jesus name.

Amen!
